The reason is the Property Registration Authority, which is referred to as "the authority", commenced this electronic discharge of mortgages after 30 March last after Committee Stage. We saw this project as providing a new on-line system enabling the lending institutions to request the cancellation of registered charges by electronic means without the need to submit any paper to the authority.
