Requests to move Adjournment of Dáil under Standing Order 32
10:30 am
Denis Naughten (Roscommon-South Leitrim, Fine Gael)
I seek the adjournment of the Dáil under Standing Order 32 to discuss a matter of urgent national importance, namely, the need for the Tánaiste and Minister for Enterprise, Trade and Employment to postpone implementation of elements of the proposed work permit rules concerning migrants resident in Ireland pending a full evaluation of the impact this will have on the exploitation of workers and the cost implications to the Irish taxpayer of these changes through social welfare, lost taxes, the undermining of tax compliant employment via the development of the black economy and, the increased cost of forced deportations.
