Requests to move Adjournment of Dáil under Standing Order 32
4:00 pm
Tom Hayes (Tipperary South, Fine Gael)
I seek the adjournment of the Dáil under Standing Order 32 to raise a matter of national importance, namely, the possible closure of Clonmel Army Barracks which has been an issue for some months now. The barracks are essential for the economic functioning of Clonmel and it is urgent to clarify the situation for the Defence Forces staff and for other businesses in the area as the barracks are a huge employer in the area. We cannot afford to jeopardise a town the size of Clonmel and I urge the Minister to save the barracks.
