Housing (Miscellaneous Provisions) Bill 2008 [Seanad]: Second Stage (Resumed)
6:00 pm
Charlie O'Connor (Dublin South West, Fianna Fail)
We should understand that even in the good times, there were demands for local authority housing. If we are now in more challenging times, it is important to take account of that fact. If the challenging times are to continue, they will put pressure on families and this issue will be dealt with in the Fine Gael Party Bill tonight, and was dealt with in a previous Labour Party Bill. The question of assistance for those families will have to be a priority. The Opposition Deputies should not believe that there is nobody on the Fianna Fáil benches who would share some of their views on this question.
