Last but not least, the legislation before the House today provides a legal framework for the State unilaterally to tear up a contract with farmers under the farm waste management scheme. In a reply to a parliamentary question yesterday, the Minister for Agriculture, Fisheries and Food confirmed that 40% of the moneys would be paid in 2009. My question to the Taoiseach is in respect of the Estimate for the Department of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food, which provides only €125 million for farm waste management.
