Requests to move Adjournment of Dáil under Standing Order 32
3:00 pm
Seymour Crawford (Cavan-Monaghan, Fine Gael)
I seek the adjournment of the Dáil under Standing Order 32 to raise a matter of national and local importance, namely, the continuing wind-down of Monaghan General Hospital despite the fact that no alternative arrangements are being made. Both Cavan General Hospital and Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital in Drogheda are incapable of dealing with their own patients. Yet the Minister and the Health Service Executive carry on with the removal of staff and services regardless of possible consequences to the people of Monaghan. This process is now being extended to other areas of the country, as highlighted by my colleagues, which demands a full debate in the House. This policy must be changed.
