Requests to move Adjournment of Dáil under Standing Order 32

I seek the adjournment of the Dáil under Standing Order 32 to raise a matter of national importance, namely, the incredible failure of the Government to establish the promised multi-agency taskforce in Limerick nearly three weeks after Dell's announcement to close its manufacturing plant there with the loss of 1,900 direct jobs and the consequential loss of many other thousands of jobs in related companies. I again call on the Government to show urgency by immediately establishing this employment and retraining taskforce, properly resourced and with broad terms of reference and incorporating funding for the Limerick regeneration project which can provide much needed employment. I thank the Ceann Comhairle for allowing me to raise this issue on the Adjournment today. I hope the Tánaiste and Minister for Enterprise, Trade and Employment, who is in the Chamber, will give us an indication that this taskforce will be established. It should have been established two months ago.
