Social Welfare (Miscellaneous Provisions) Bill 2008: Second Stage (Resumed)
9:00 pm
Margaret Conlon (Cavan-Monaghan, Fianna Fail)
There will be changes to the Money Advice and Budgeting Service, MABS, and the Combat Poverty Agency. I want to place on record the high regard in which I hold MABS and its staff. It provides a vital service to people who find themselves in serious debt and who need support and action plans to help them cope with the problems of debt. MABS and Citizens Information Board complement each other well. I welcome the fact that MABS will be a separate and distinct service within the Citizens Information Board and that there will be no change in the status of the 53 independent MABS companies.
As much as the Opposition blow and bluster——
