Requests to move Adjournment of Dáil under Standing Order 32
10:30 am
James Bannon (Longford-Westmeath, Fine Gael)
I seek the adjournment of the Dáil under Standing Order 32 to raise a matter of national importance, namely, the threat to the economic viability of the farming industry as a result of the Government's refusal to extend the deadline for the farm waste management scheme beyond 31 December 2008 or to engage in constructive negotiations with the European Commission, despite the fact that such a refusal will destroy the livelihoods of farmers, which have already been decimated by Government mismanagement of the sector, adverse weather conditions, bureaucracy and excessive red tape.
