Requests to move Adjournment of Dáil under Standing Order 32
3:00 pm
James Bannon (Longford-Westmeath, Fine Gael)
I wish to seek the adjournment of the Dáil under Standing Order 32 to raise a matter of national importance, namely, the threat of impending Government cutbacks, many of which while necessary to plug the hole in the public finances caused by the Government's mismanagement, could, due to lack of judgment by the Government and the overzealous imposition of stealth taxes, be excessive, impact adversely on the health and well-being of our taxpayers and be shamefully inequitable unless the Cabinet's controversial pay rise comes under the axe.
I am delighted the Taoiseach has announced the pay increases for Cabinet members will be postponed. This evening I want the Taoiseach to sack the wasters on the other side of the House.
