Requests to move Adjournment of Dáil under Standing Order 32
10:30 am
James Bannon (Longford-Westmeath, Fine Gael)
I seek the adjournment of the Dáil under Standing Order 32 to raise a matter of national importance, namely, the threat to the well-being of 300,000 provisional drivers who face a serious loss of independence and the right they enjoy to utilise personal transport as sole occupants of their cars, having driven in many cases for upwards of 30 years on a provisional licence, and who depend on their cars to access employment, medical appointments, leisure activities, etc. or who have relations depending on them for same, particularly those who live in rural areas, ill-served by public transport.
