I seek the adjournment of the Dáil under Standing Order 32 to raise a matter of national importance, namely, the threat to consumers of a 30% increase in the price of electricity being sought by the ESB which could come into effect in early autumn and would add approximately €45 to the average bi-monthly bill and increase the average bill for a year to more than €1,100.
