Requests to move Adjournment of Dáil under Standing Order 32
4:00 pm
Tommy Broughan (Dublin North East, Labour)
I wish to seek the adjournment of the Dáil under Standing Order 32 to raise a matter of national importance, namely, that the Minister for Agriculture, Fisheries and Food urgently addresses the crisis in the fishing industry and, in particular, the impact of sky-rocketing fuel costs, serious quota restrictions, the overfishing by foreign fleets in Irish waters, the detrimental impact of these developments and the loss of jobs in Howth and other fishing ports around the coast; and if the Minister will report to Members on the current appalling situation for fishermen, their families and our coastal communities.
