Requests to move Adjournment of Dáil under Standing Order 32
10:30 am
Seymour Crawford (Cavan-Monaghan, Fine Gael)
I seek the adjournment of the Dáil under Standing Order 32 to raise a matter of national and local importance, namely, the urgent need to discuss the serious crisis in the HSE as regards subvention payments, where clients or patients have been asked to pay the increased charges being imposed by nursing homes, some of them since 1 January 2008. In one situation, a person aged 100 may have to return home where there is no individual to care for him, apart from his son. In another case, a couple with Alzheimer's disease were assessed for their further increase of €300 per week, while the HSE had been allocated €110 million towards the fair deal project, which was never implemented.
