Requests to move Adjournment of Dáil under Standing Order 32
3:00 pm
James Bannon (Longford-Westmeath, Fine Gael)
I wish to seek the adjournment of the Dáil under Standing Order 32 to raise a matter of national importance, namely, the failure of the Government to ensure that Irish citizens are given the means to make an informed decision on the Lisbon treaty, with the level of public understanding of the treaty very poor, as two thirds of the population do not understand the treaty text, which in consideration of the fiasco regarding the Nice treaty is gross mismanagement by the Government and could lead to a "No" vote by default.
