I seek the adjournment of the Dáil under Standing Order 32 to discuss the following matter of urgent national importance, namely, to force the Government to explain to this House why it thinks it is safe to remove essential hospital services, such as accident and emergency and the intensive care unit from Louth County Hospital, Dundalk, when there is no prospect of a regional hospital being constructed for at least 20 years; to explain why the people of Dundalk and its catchment communities are being denied these essential health services; the attendant risks they carry as a consequence of these savage cutbacks; and the need to deal urgently with the crisis in our health service.
