Willie Penrose (Longford-Westmeath, Labour)
Question : To ask the Minister for Enterprise, Trade and Employment if he is aware of the serious implications for employment and the general economy in the midlands of the appointment of a liquidator to Iralco Limited, Collinstown, County Westmeath on 14 April 2008 and the consequent threat to 420 jobs; his views on the importance of keeping the plant operating as a going concern; and if he will request the industrial development agencies to support all possible steps being taken by the liquidator in its discussions with employees, suppliers, customers and the company itself to keep the plant open and secure the maximum number of jobs.
