Requests to move Adjournment of Dáil under Standing Order 32
4:00 pm
Arthur Morgan (Louth, Sinn Fein)
I wish to try to continue discussion on the crisis in the health service. I seek the adjournment of the Dáil under Standing Order 32 to discuss the following matter of urgent national importance, namely, to call on the Government and the Minister for Health and Children to change their plans for the removal of the Dóchas centre, a one-stop-shop for breast cancer patients, from Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital, Drogheda, to Beaumont Hospital in Dublin; the urgent need to maintain this important service for women in the north-east region in view of the constantly higher levels of cancer there, which are always above the national average, 12% to 13%; and commit to enhancing cancer treatment and prevention rather than removing facilities as is currently the case. There is a clear need for debate on this issue.
