I seek the adjournment of the Dáil under Standing Order 32 to raise a matter of national importance, namely, the mindless violence that has devastated this city. In my own area over the past week, a young man was assassinated on the Grand Canal in Bluebell, while two young Polish men were violently attacked after leaving the local chip shop in the Drimnagh area. Sadly, one of these men died last night. People in our communities are living in fear, and I call on the Minister for Justice, Equality and Law Reform to prioritise the protection of innocent people and to bring these perpetrators to justice immediately. I also seek the adjournment of the Dáil for an all-party debate on the violent crime that is destroying our communities.
