I seek the adjournment of the Dáil under Standing Order 32 to discuss the report of the EU food and veterinary office on Brazilian beef production, which proves that serious irregularities and shortcomings exist, confirms the allegations made by Irish farm groups regarding beef imported from Brazil and the threat it poses to the health of consumers and underlines the difficulties for EU producers to compete with cheap imports. The report further strengthens the case for an EU-wide ban to be imposed on Brazilian beef imports and the need for the Government to support such a ban in the interest of Irish farmers and consumers.
