Requests to move Adjournment of Dáil under Standing Order 32
10:30 am
Aengus Ó Snodaigh (Dublin South Central, Sinn Fein)
I seek to adjourn the Dáil to discuss the following matter: the urgent need for the Government to take emergency action to locate the 328 children who have gone missing from HSE care, particularly given the established link between unaccompanied minors going missing from such care and trafficking for the purpose of sexual exploitation, as evidenced by the outcome of a case involving 50 Chinese children in Sweden in 2005, the international child trafficking ring smashed by Dutch police yesterday, involving one Irish arrest, and the disappearance of 130 Nigerian children in Holland. The Government's emergency action should include making additional resources available to ensure sufficient numbers of social workers are attached to safe accommodation and located at Dublin Airport and ensuring ample resources are channelled into the Garda operation SNOW.
