Requests to move Adjournment of Dáil under Standing Order 32
10:30 am
Jan O'Sullivan (Limerick East, Labour)
I would say "Thank you" in Greek if I were able.
I seek the adjournment of the Dáil under Standing Order 32 to discuss the following specific matter of public interest requiring urgent attention, namely, the need for the Taoiseach to make a full statement on the disclosure that the most senior official in his Department was aware of plans by Aer Lingus to scrap its Shannon-Heathrow service and transfer it to Belfast almost two weeks before the public announcement, and to outline why the Government took no action in regard to such a major threat to job creation and economic investment in the west and mid-west regions, despite extensive advance knowledge of the Aer Lingus plan within the Government system; and the need for an independent investigation to establish who in the Government system knew in advance of the Aer Lingus plan, when they knew and why no action was taken. In view of the importance of this issue, I hope the Chair will agree to my request.
