Requests to move Adjournment of Dáil under Standing Order 31

5:00 pm

Paudge Connolly (Cavan-Monaghan, Independent)

I seek the adjournment of Dáil Éireann under Standing Order 31 to discuss the following matter of urgent public and national concern, namely, the external remedial works scheme at Mullaghmatt housing estate, Monaghan town, whereby residents of Mullaghmatt are being required to finance external painting and other remedial works within the front curtilage of privately-owned houses in the estate in contrast to the local authority-owned houses, the external works of which are 100% funded; the wide variations that exist with other local authorities, in particular, St. Finian's estate in Drogheda, where such Department-approved work is carried out at no cost to the private residents; and the need for the Minister for the Environment, Heritage and Local Government to ensure the private residents of Mullaghmatt receive parity of treatment in the housing remedial works scheme with residents of other such schemes throughout the country.
