I seek leave to move a motion for the adjournment of the Dáil under Standing Order 31 to discuss a matter of national importance and concern, namely, the implementation of the 2002 Agreed Programme for Government, which was to ensure that the average class size for children under nine would be below the best practice guideline of 20:1. I now call on the Government to do something urgently on this issue as this country has the second highest average class size in the European Union.
