We must get the important issue of grooming right because it is sometimes the parents rather than the children who are groomed. The paedophile is allowed to become part and parcel of the family's immediate circle and a trusted friend.

While the child becomes the victim, we must cater for this difficult matter in the forthcoming legislation. It was what transpired in respect of most of the sexual abuse that occurred in Ireland.
