I wish to seek the Adjournment of the Dáil under Standing Order 31 to discuss a matter of extreme importance, namely, that the Minister for Communications, Marine and Natural Resources immediately intervene with the management of An Post to stop the policy of closing and downgrading rural post officers, such as the recent downgrading of Kilmaley post office in County Clare to post point status, and the closure of Liscannor, Kilamona, Carran, Kilnaboy, Inagh, Kilbaha, Cross, Querrin, Moyasta and Lisdeen post offices in recent years because of the devastation this has caused in local communities.
