I seek the adjournment of the Dáil under Standing Order 31 to raise a matter of national importance, namely, the need for the Government to take heed of the survey published by the Irish Traveller Movement which found that most Travellers wish to be nomadic for some part of the year; whether the Minister for the Environment, Heritage and Local Government believes that nomadism is an integral part of Traveller culture; and, in respecting that cultural right, whether he will provide the urgently needed transient halting sites for Traveller communities around the State to enable them to exercise that right.
