Requests to move Adjournment of Dáil under Standing Order 31

5:00 am

James Breen (Clare, Independent)

I seek the adjournment of the Dáil under Standing Order 31 to raise a matter of local and national importance, namely, the failure of the Ministers for Transport and Communications, Marine and Natural Resources to advance the purchase of an appropriate site to house the Doolin coastguard and rescue service. Each of the past three weeks have seen a loss of life due to drowning and has necessitated the deployment of the rescue services on each occasion. The Cliffs of Moher and the west Clare area have a large volume of tourist traffic all year round and it is imperative this matter, which I first raised with the Minister in October 2005, is resolved as a matter of urgency.
