I wish to seek the adjournment of the Dáil under Standing Order 31 to raise a matter of national importance, namely, the Government's failure to comply with a request from Dún Laoghaire Rathdown County Council not to sell a 6.33 acre site at Shanganagh Castle, including the unused open prison, thereby denying local people the land and the site's potential to reduce the housing waiting list and to provide much needed public amenities; and the fact that the people of Shankill are now being made to pay for the Government's easily avoidable overspend when it purchased the site at Thornton Hall.
