Electoral (Amendment) Bill 2006: Second Stage
1:00 pm
Séamus Healy (Tipperary South, Independent)
It is not very good to return to it here. The officials involved need to know what they are entitled to do. As of now they believe they cannot use those records to put people on the register. I ask the Minister to extend the time period for the review of the register. Under the present timescale it is not possible to review the register in the manner the Minister wants and that we all want. When this matter was raised in the House, the Minister promised that there would be a significant high profile publicity campaign on the review of the register of electors.
