I seek the adjournment of the Dáil under Standing Order 31 to raise a matter of national importance, namely, the criticisms of the Department of Justice, Equality and Law Reform in the Comptroller and Auditor General's report on the purchase of Thornton Hall in north Dublin for a prison and the need for the Tánaiste and Minister for Justice, Equality and Law Reform, Deputy McDowell, to make a statement on his responsibility for the waste of taxpayers' money involved and the need to stop this project going ahead at an unsuitable location.
