Trevor Sargent (Dublin North, Green Party)

I wish to seek the adjournment of the Dáil under Standing Order 31 to raise a matter of national importance: the need for the Taoiseach to explain to the Houses of the Oireachtas and to answer questions from all parties regarding the clear contradiction between his statement in 1997 that "politicians should not be under a financial obligation to anyone", friend or other, and his admission yesterday that in 1993 and 1994 he received financial assistance of around €50,000 from friends.
