I seek the adjournment of the Dáil under Standing Order 31 to debate the following urgent matter: the immediate need for the Government to outline the measures it is taking to develop alternative uses for the land previously utilised by the Irish sugar processing industry following the closure of that industry; the need for the Minister for Agriculture and Food to inform the House of the steps she took, if any, to try to retain the industry for a final season and the procedures she intends to employ when distributing the compensation envelope to those within the industry who now face substantial losses.
