Requests to move Adjournment of Dáil under Standing Order 31.
11:00 am
Joe Sherlock (Cork East, Labour)
I seek the adjournment of the Dáil under Standing Order 31 to debate the following urgent matter: the serious consequences for beet growers and beet workers of the agreement entered into by the Minister for Agriculture and Food this week for a massive cut of 36% in Ireland's sugar price and the need for the Minister to make a statement to the Dáil outlining the reasons she agreed to a set of proposals ensuring the demise of the Irish sugar industry in Mallow. Given the importance of the issue, I hope the Ceann Comhairle will agree to this request.
