Requests to move Adjournment of Dáil under Standing Order 31.
11:00 am
John Perry (Sligo-Leitrim, Fine Gael)
I seek the adjournment of the Dáil under Standing Order 31 to debate the following urgent matter: the need to create new employment in Sligo due to substantial job losses that have taken place. Some 91 jobs were lost at Seahan Media Ireland last week and a further 59 jobs were lost at Kerry Foods in the past fortnight. A further 60 jobs in the region were lost with the announcement by Magee that it will stop production in Donegal town. This follows major job losses in the region in the past two months, including 560 jobs at Hospira, Donegal, and 122 jobs at Tractech, Sligo.
