Many party election manifestos over the years referred to encouraging people to participate in agriculture. Opposition parties usually paid lip-service to this but, thankfully, the Minister secured amendments to the Finance Bill to provide tax concessions to Macra na Feirme members and other young people with ability and drive who want to farm.
