Requests to move Adjournment of Dáil under Standing Order 31.

10:30 am

Paudge Connolly (Cavan-Monaghan, Independent)

I seek the adjournment of the Dáil under Standing Order 31 to debate the following urgent matter: the disgraceful use of more than 8,000 An Post pensioners as pawns in the current dispute in that company by the withholding of their due increases under Sustaining Progress for the past two years; the need for the Minister for Communications, Marine and Natural Resources to ensure pensioners are removed from the equation and that their increases and arrears under Sustaining Progress are paid forthwith; and the importance of achieving a fair and equitable resolution of the dispute which threatens to cause widespread disruption to the postal service.
