Requests to move Adjournment of Dáil under Standing Order 31.
11:00 am
Aengus Ó Snodaigh (Dublin South Central, Sinn Fein)
I seek the adjournment of the Dáil under Standing Order 31 to raise a matter of national importance, namely, the preparations by the Minister for Justice, Equality and Law Reform for a "super prison" at Thornton Hall, including the massive cost of the archeological dig which is likely to exceed €30 million, the costs to service the site and upgrade local roads which are likely to exceed €40 million prior to any construction, and the fact that work on clearing the site has proceeded yesterday without the required permit. There is a need to immediately suspend all work and locate a more suitable site for such a prison.
