Question : To ask the Minister for Enterprise, Trade and Employment the action he will take arising from the plan by Irish Ferries to seek the redundancy of 543 Irish staff with a view to replacing them by lower paid workers from abroad, especially in view of the consequences for labour relations in general and social partnership in particular; the total potential cost to the Exchequer of the proposed redundancy package; if he has sought legal advice on the matter; and if he will make a statement on the matter.
