Veterinary Practice Bill 2004 [Seanad]: Report Stage (Resumed) and Final Stage.
5:00 pm
Mary Upton (Dublin South Central, Labour)
I support this amendment based on what Deputy Naughten has just stated. It is a rather unusual situation if the vet may pass along the facility to write or deliver a prescription when somebody else, for example, in a co-operative cannot do it. This has been the tradition up to now. If it were to be made fair, including this amendment in the legislation would take care of matters. There has been a good deal of discussion with the various interested parties on the issuing of prescriptions and it is a critical area. This is an important amendment.
