Ireland was legally obliged to transpose Directive 2002/14/EC of the European Parliament and Council into law no later than 23 March of this year. Ireland is the only member state that has not done so. The directive concerns the general framework for informing and consulting employees in the European Union. When will we see the relevant legislation? Has the Commission been in touch with Irish officials in regard to proceedings on foot of the default of this country in respect of this matter?
