This by-election will be a welcome opportunity for the people of Meath to have their say. They can pass judgment on their neglect by the main parties down the years. Meath will not be taken for granted and there are many issues about which the people feel angry. The Green Party candidate, Fergal O'Byrne, has been a campaigner and community worker for many years and knows how the pernicious and rapacious policies on waste have been carried out in an out-of-sight, out-of-mind manner.
