Ciarán Cuffe (Dún Laoghaire, Green Party)

The Garda Síochána Bill 2004 is a step in the right direction. It is not as radical as we would have expected from the Minister, Deputy McDowell. We need to restore confidence in the Garda. We look forward to strengthening some of the provisions of the Bill on Committee Stage so that it can help to reform the force and restore confidence in its operations.
