Request to move Adjournment of Dáil under Standing Order 31.
4:00 pm
Aengus Ó Snodaigh (Dublin South Central, Sinn Fein)
I seek the adjournment of the Dáil under Standing Order 31 to raise a matter of national importance, namely, that the Government has introduced a data retention proposal to the EU providing for universal surveillance of the entire European population and, in doing so, has ignored our Data Protection Commissioner's expressed doubts over its legitimacy and legality, as well as the EU Data Protection Commissioner's warning that the proposed level of data retention constitutes an improper invasion of fundamental rights.
