Ciarán Cuffe (Dún Laoghaire, Green Party)

In light of the remarks by the Minister of State, Deputy Conor Lenihan, that the Government would not meet its target of 0.7% of GNP for overseas development assistance by 2007 and in light of the remarks by the Taoiseach, Deputy Ahern, that the decline in global overseas development aid was shameful, indefensible and inconsistent with the commitments made at Rio, I ask that a debate take place in the House on this issue.
