Twenty-seventh Amendment of the Constitution Bill 2004: Second Stage (Resumed).
11:00 am
Séamus Healy (Tipperary South, Independent)
The Minister, Deputy McDowell, will recall the proposal of his party and Fianna Fáil to provide an additional 2,000 gardaí. The proposal was included in An Agreed Programme for Government, but there is no sign of the extra gardaí. A Garda traffic corps was also promised, but there is no sign of it. The Government said that 200,000 people on low incomes would receive medical cards, but that promise has gone by the wayside.
