Select Committee on Transport
Estimates for Public Services 2025
Vote 31 - Transport (Supplementary)
2:00 am
Jerry Buttimer (Cork South-Central, Fine Gael)
It is a work in progress. It is about ensuring we provide a service to people, which we are doing. We have seen an increase in service provision. Undoubtedly, and Deputy Currie mentioned it earlier, we have seen an increase in the volume of people across the country using public transport. For me, the Minister, Deputy O'Brien, and the Minister of State, Deputy Canney, who is responsible for rail, it is about ensuring we get people onto rail. It is about engaging with the relevant stakeholders to ensure we have a delivery of service. It is also about ensuring that in doing all of that, we provide a service that is reliable and gets people to their point of destination in a safe way. We have seen an increase in the provision of rail in the past number of years.
