Select Committee on Disability Matters
Estimates for Public Services 2025
Vote 40 - Disability (Supplementary)
2:00 am
Norma Foley (Kerry, Fianna Fail)
There are presently three. We have funding in 2026 and I hope we might be in a position to deliver the full three so we would have the six by the end of 2026, but we will just have to see how we go with that. I am not even sure that will meet the need. It is quite phenomenal what they do there. I have seen in my own area where people who were travelling to Cork from Kerry can now be catered to at home and everything else.
On the wider residential issue, with the funding we have for 2026, we will deliver services for 9,000 people approximately. Within that, as I said, there is €40 million for new residential placements, the €10 million for the under-65s, part of which is community neurorehabilitation. It is around €3 million for community neurorehabilitation and €10 million for the transitions. Then there are enhancements and upgrades to existing residential facilities as well.
