Select Committee on Disability Matters
Estimates for Public Services 2025
Vote 40 - Disability (Supplementary)

In the short time left, in relation to the children's disability network teams, CDNTs, it is great to see there was increased funding for them this year, but I know we are struggling with recruitment. Is there anything in the budget for outside-the-box recruitment ideas? We have many therapists in Australia, Dubai and Abu Dhabi. I refer to getting them home. We obviously do not have housing. In the west of Ireland, a vacant CDNT speech and language therapy, SLT, post has essentially been closed and moved into being a managerial post. It will, hopefully, bring boots on the ground by way of a new manager, but for that CDNT specifically, it was a vacant post for a number of years. It is now a closed post. Although we welcome having a new manager and new boots on the ground, we are still short that SLT post and it will not now be filled. What are we doing in terms of recruitment and have we money specifically in the budget to entice people home? Are we looking at housing options or what is our plan?
