Select Committee on Disability Matters
Estimates for Public Services 2025
Vote 40 - Disability (Supplementary)
2:00 am
Norma Foley (Kerry, Fianna Fail)
On disability, there is cross-government alignment around working together and focusing on the best possible outcomes for people with disabilities. With regard to the CDNTs, we have had a 26% increase in staffing in the CDNTs, notwithstanding that it is not perfect and there are vacancies. Budget 2026 has made provision for an additional 150 staff to go into the CDNTs. We have been challenged in terms of ensuring that we have a pipeline of young people who are trained and skilled. We have seen an increase in placements and student scholarships, and there is also an interesting development that is working favourably. There has been a 30% increase in clinical placements in CDNT teams as an encouragement to people, who can see how it works and then consider working in CDNTs going forward.
